Outlier's Role

Outlier provided quick, on-site, start-up assistance and robot programming optimization for a robot cell OEM in the cheese processing industry.

TECHNOLOGIES

  • Stäubli CS8 Robot Controller

SITUATION

Our client, an OEM in the dairy industry, manufactured and deployed two cheese handling robotic cells. During the deployment phase, they had to make changes to the equipment layout which significantly impacted the robots’ positions and trajectories. Due to the tight schedule, the client did not readily have the necessary robot programming support to address the changes or assist with testing and process validation. Our client reached out to Outlier for support with their on-site installation and start-up.

SOLUTION

Outlier updated and improved the client’s generic Stäubli robot programs to account for the changes in the installation location and process constraints. Outlier programmed new robot coordinates and trajectories to meet material transport requirements and optimized motion blending to improve material loading and unloading. During the process validation and production runs, Outlier worked closely with the client’s mechanical and programming team to ensure that the cells met cycle time, product handling requirements, and overall performance specifications.

CASE STUDY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Outlier enhanced the Stäubli robot programs by teaching joint and point coordinates and refining trajectories to improve material transport, cycle time, and product handling requirements.

  • Outlier supported the customer's international team by providing quick and responsive start-up assistance in the California Central Valley, a region at the heart of U.S. food manufacturing.
