Outlier Automation is a family business founded in 2019 by G and Liz Brooks-Zak. We are two engineers with a passion for making a positive impact in manufacturing and our community. We believe Outlier Automation should be a force for the greater good through technology, education, and productivity.

G Brooks-Zak, P.E.

G Brooks-Zak has a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. G started their career as a field service engineer in industrial water treatment, then worked as a technical and project engineer for a large control systems integration firm. G has experience in many aspects of successful automation project development and execution from low level programming, to specification development, to leading teams of multiple engineers and outside vendors.

G leads Outlier Automation’s technical execution and direction. G is excited to continue to expand Outlier’s capabilities and help Outlier’s customers achieve efficiency and profitability through automation. Outside of Outlier, G enjoys cooking as if on “Chopped”, gardening, and learning new handyman skills.

Liz Brooks-Zak

Liz Brooks-Zak has her Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She started her career in the semiconductor industry as a Product Marketing Engineer where she was responsible for the marketing and project management of product development projects. She transitioned to an Applications Engineering position where she supported customers with hardware troubleshooting and programming in flash memory. She then left the engineering field to work at a non-profit that provides free tax preparation and financial coaching. There she managed over fifty employees across fourteen tax site locations and developed the online tax training curriculum for volunteers. Now back in engineering, Liz leads the business operations and marketing side of Outlier while also contributing technically. Liz loves spicy food and training on aerial silks.
